Secondary schools run Envirogroups and EfS standards and programmes in the Marlborough region.

Secondary schools have envirogroups that focus on projects like the Rai Valley Area School bat recovery programme in partnership with the Department of Conservation and Forest and Bird. Secondary schools also run programmes supporting students to learn about Education for Sustainability as part of some of the curriculum subjects. Students at Marlborough Boys College looked at the impacts of pollution in coastal waterways and the effect on marine life. Marlborough Girls College runs a dedicated Education for Sustainability course offered at years 12 and 13 where students investigate issues in the local environment then choose an issue to take personal action on.
