A full cycle of growing kūmara knowledge
A year-long collaborative project has helped build knowledge of growing kūmara from sprouting tipu, preparing māra kai through to planting and harvest. Kaiako and ākonga across all learning sectors have engaged in this local initiative in Te Whanganui-Tara Wellington.
Journal story inspires walking school bus Journey
When they read a story about another school and their walking school bus, Miramar students were inspired to set up something similar. After pitching their idea to the BoT, mapping and designing routes and consulting with the community they proudly launched their Walking School Bus in April and celebrated!
Engaging in play, creativity, learning and fun in outdoor classroom
A School Fun Run sponsored prize in 2021 has allowed Ngāti Toa School to develop their school outdoor environment in ways that respond to their vision and values. The project has been led by ākonga and supported by whānau and kaiako and has led to new ideas to explore for the future.
