Canopy – Tirohanga Ngahere is a new website developed by Te Uru Rākau – New Zealand Forest Service. It brings together a huge range of advice, research, and resources to support all stages of projects to restore forest habitats. The website has been designed to be useful for projects of all sizes. While the focus is canopy coverage, there are also resources that on wetland and riparian planting.
Toimata Foundation is working with Te Uru Rākau on a 3-year project funded through One Billion Trees to grow and extend restoration action on the ground through the Enviroschools and Te Aho Tū Roa networks.
The project also aims to support innovation, science and technology development in ways that embrace ecological principles, Māori perspectives and diverse ideas and understandings of te taiao. Stories from the project will be shared on our websites over time to celebrate success and grow the puna mātauraga, pool of knowledge.
