The Matariki Tu Rākau Grant is still open for 2021 applications, and 2022 will be their last planting season with the grant, so they are encouraging people/schools to apply as soon as they can.
MPI/Matariki Tu Rākau also just released a video to promote planting in schools. It features an Enviroschool in Hamilton, Maeroa Intermediate. The video shows a recent planting day, where students collected seed, propagated seedlings in their shade house and planted to form a new outdoor classroom at their school.
The Matariki Tu Rākau supported this planting which commemorated Rob Begbie, a teacher and stalwart of the Maeroa School’s community.
